October Reading Recommendations

These three books are all October releases from author friends of mine–each one part of a series (and you know how much I love a series), and each unique in its storytelling.

Since her teen years, Opal Hughes has taken care of her bedridden mom and little sister, but she also wants to follow in the corporate footsteps of her successful boss. But when Opal’s carefully structured world collapses, she has to fight for her job and family, along with dealing with a quirky guy who won’t go away. A heartwarming story about love and reclaiming dreams no matter what.

After fleeing from her dangerous husband, Rose struggles to come back to life. She never predicted falling for another man. Daniel is trying to recover after being left at the altar, but he’d closed his heart, until he met Rose. When Rose’s husband comes to town, she must leave town with him to protect her family. Feeling betrayed once again, Daniel must fight to learn the truth.

This book fits into the category of Christian fiction, but I see it as a crossover novel that deals with an unlikely but loving couple facing barriers to fulfill their desire to become parents. Their marriage and faith are pushed to the brink when they cope with invasive treatments and a devastating miscarriage. Amelia’s pursuit of motherhood becomes all-consuming, but at what cost? With humor and wit, the book explores the tension between striving and surrender, and the many detours life has in store.
