Joyful Moments: Book Unboxings
No matter how many books you publish, there is nothing like the moment you hold a print copy in your hands. Here are six reasons unboxing books is a momentous occasion for authors.
It’s a milestone moment.
Holding a finished copy of their book is the ultimate payoff after months or years of writing, editing, revising, and waiting. The box is the physical proof that all that work turned into something real.
Emotional validation.
Books often exist digitally (on Word docs, emails, proofs, Kindle files) for a long time before they’re printed. Opening the box makes it feel official—a dream come true.
The Reader Connection
Readers love sharing in that excitement, and it gives authors a chance to celebrate with their audience.
Tangible reward.
Writing is such an abstract, invisible job most of the time. A box full of books is a concrete, touchable reward—like holding a trophy.
Nostalgia factor.
For many writers, it connects back to childhood—remembering the thrill of opening a package, holding a new book, or even imagining their name on a cover when they were younger.
It feels like a gift.
Even though they ordered it themselves (or their publisher sent it), the sealed box builds anticipation. That “present-opening” energy makes it fun.
A Wyoming Family Holiday, book 5 in the Back to Adelaide Creek series, releases October 28th. Click here to reserve a copy at your favorite retailer.
